Building Schedule

Expanding and upgrading the wireless coverage in a campus building takes planning and specialized work. Representatives from the building, Facilities & Services, and Technology Services initially walk through the building, identifying areas where coverage needs to be added or improved. In some areas on campus, new wireless access points (WAPs) must be installed. Other times, improving coverage requires repositioning existing access points within the building.

Once a plan is created for the building, Technology Services reviews the network infrastructure to make sure it can properly handle the increase in traffic created by adding access points. Within each building that is part of the project, Facilities and Services first installs the necessary electrical equipment, and then Tech Services installers move network cables and mount the wireless access points to a wall or ceiling. They will then test the new configuration to make sure it is providing improved wireless coverage for the building.

You can follow updates about the project by reading the Wireless Progress Reports.

Wireless Expansion and Upgrade Map

The map below will allow you to see which buildings have completed their upgrade work (buildings in blue), which buildings are currently being upgraded (buildings in orange), and which buildings are scheduled to start work in the next 90 days (buildings in brown). Zoom in on the map to get a closer look.

This map only shows buildings that are currently covered by the Wireless Expansion and Upgrade Project. This map does not show all locations on campus that have wireless coverage.

Map-Legend, Blue indicates Building Completed, Orange indicates In Construction, Purple indicates In Review

Buildings removed from scope

  • Everett Electrical & Computer Engineering Lab – Renovations are in progress. Another project is funding Wireless Access Points, labor, and materials.
  • Human Factors Division – Due to  condition of the building making it uninhabitable, wireless upgrades for this building have been removed from scope.
  • Soyface Barn – No networking was run to this building when it was built and service is not needed.
  • Surveying Building – Renovations are in progress. Network upgrades will be completed and funded as a part of the renovations.

A list of all buildings that are in scope for the three year project is also available.
